Miss Hamalis shares exciting news about the launch of the Channing Character books, written by Junior School pupils who are now in the Senior School.
As you know, our eight Channing Characters represent the character traits that we aim to cultivate in our pupils: bravery, curiosity, empathy, independence, perseverance, resilience, respectfulness and responsibility. These qualities are fundamental to their personal growth and success, both during their time at school and beyond.
This morning, during our assembly, we were honoured to welcome special guest Paul Solomons, a talented artist and cartoonist, who designed our unique Channing Characters. Paul’s creative vision has brought our characters to life, embodying the essence of each trait in a visually captivating way.
I was very proud of the Channing Character Champions, a new role of responsibility we introduced this academic year, who supported me during the assembly, and moreover for their input during our weekly meetings. These girls play a vital role in promoting and embodying these character traits throughout our school community and thinking of new ways to champion the character traits across the school experience.
I had the pleasure of sharing an exciting update about our bespoke Character Education programme. I was delighted to announce the launch of books for each Channing Character. These books were created based on stories written by previous Year 6 pupils (now in the Senior School) and illustrated by Paul Solomons. They will serve as valuable resources for further exploring and understanding the traits represented by each character. The girls will have access to the books as there will be copies in their form rooms, in the Library and in other communal areas around the school.
In the meantime, you can explore our Channing social media accounts: Channing Instagram Account and/or Channing Facebook Account as some of our staff members are and will be reading the stories aloud, offering a fantastic way to engage with the Channing Characters programme. Your daughter may also enjoy watching the Channing Characters animation.
