First, we had Trumpet extraordinaire Anna RB in 11HWo play ‘Rustiques’ by Eugene Bozza. She navigated the challenging unaccompanied runs with ease and played the contrasting soft and loud sections beautifully. At one point, she put her mute on and we were transported into a 1950s film! Next up Tamara P in 9KN played ‘Deserto è il luogo’ by Vincent Bellini on the clarinet. She played this complex, romantic tune beautifully and harnessed the emotion of the clarinet perfectly. Afterwards, we had another fabulous trumpeter- Eliana P in 9EHi playing ‘Rondo for Lifey’ by the brass master himself Leonard Bernstein! A snappy and undeniably challenging piece (typical Bernstein), executed flawlessly by Eliana. Then Anna G in 12MY sang ‘Fever’ by Eddie Cooley. This song was perfectly suited to Anna’s articulate yet sultry tone, and transformed the AC into a Parisian jazz club. Beautiful - Peggy Lee would be proud! Finally, Maya HB in 12KW sang ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ from Grease. Not a dry eye in the house! She brought her own flavour to the song and her effortless riffs complemented the song fabulously. Huge well done to all the performers this week- what a fantastic mix! Do listen HERE.
