At Channing, Partnerships Week is a time to celebrate the vibrant network of collaborations that connect our school community with others across North London. One of our pillars for Social Impact is the building of the Education Plus Alliance — a collective initiative dedicated to creating academic and enrichment opportunities for young people who may not otherwise have access to them. The Alliance brings together Channing School, Highgate Newtown Community Partnership (HNCP), St Aloysius’ College, Brookfield Primary, La Sainte Union, and potentially another primary school, with additional involvement from Whitehall Park, Highgate Primary, and Parliament Hill School.
Born out of Channing’s long-standing partnership with HNCP, the Education Plus Alliance now provides a growing range of activities spanning Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5: from academic mentoring and problem-solving clubs to creative initiatives like ceramics, DJing, and intergenerational projects that bridge generations and communities.
As part of our growing Education Plus Alliance, we were delighted to welcome Whitehall Park Primary School back into our Partnership Clubs this week. Two of their Year 6 pupils, Theo and Atticus, joined Science Club for the first time and shared their enthusiasm afterwards.
“It was really fun — I liked that we could do experiments in a proper science lab!” said Theo.
“We made slime and even got to take it home! It was exciting — and I enjoyed having a snack before the lesson too,” added Atticus.
Their excitement perfectly captures the spirit of the Education Plus Alliance. At its heart, the Alliance aims to open doors, inspire confidence, and strengthen connections, giving every young person involved the chance to discover new interests, skills, and friendships beyond their own school setting.
