This highlights some of the work that goes on in one day alongside teaching In the morning the UKMT Follow on rounds took place.

Anna S in Year 13 qualified to compete in the follow on round called the Senior Kangaroo! Maria K in Year 12 scored enough in the Senior Maths Challenge to complete the Olympiad which was 3.5 hours long. Thanks to Mrs Williams for arranging this.

At lunch time there was Mathletics club where different year groups were practising their Maths problem solving: this is run by Mrs Williams. They were practising for the Hans Woyda competition after school. After teaching a full day of lessons, it was all go after school!

Mrs Wootton took the Channing group of students to UCS school for the next round of the Hans Woyda competition. We were warmly welcomed by the Maths Department, despite the rain, and our students showed great enthusiasm and resilience as they completed many rounds of Maths puzzles, including the relay and head to head rounds. UCS were the quickest on the day but our students showed they were at least 20% braver as they tried their best and levelled with UCS in the relay round. The team were: Captain: Amy W (Year 13), Tessie M (Year 12), Tabitha J (Year 11) and Kaia T (Year 9). They battled with the torrential rain and taxis not arriving - well done, Channing!

The Team in action and in UCS main Hall While this competition was going on, back at Channing Mr Riggs-Long was teaching his Year 10 twilight IGCSE Further Maths while Miss Williams was taking the Problem Solving club with Brookfields Primary School, run by Sixth formers and organised by Miss Ebrahim.

At the same time there was Robotics club, run by Mr Holmes and involving Channing and St Aloysius College students...the students were flying drones using coding. Here is a video.

Well done to the Maths Department on a very busy day and to our students: this certainly shows ‘Girls Enjoying Success’. It is a pleasure to work with our dedicated and well motivated students.
